84 Friends of Krishna

A farmer. A blind poet. A cobbler. A king. Thakorji chose ALL of them.

๐Ÿ’š "He can choose YOU too โ€” He already has!"

A Vaarta is a true story โ€” not a made-up one! About 500 years ago, a great teacher named Mahaprabhuji Vallabhacharyaji travelled all over India and met all kinds of people. He taught them how to love Thakorji. The 84 people who became his students were all very different from each other. And Thakorji loved every single one of them. ๐ŸŒฟ

These are their stories.

Meet the 84 Vaishnavas! Stories of real people Thakorji chose

๐ŸŽ“
Damodardas Harsani
No. 1 ยท The Learned Scholar

Damodardas had read every book and knew every prayer. He thought he already understood God! But when Mahaprabhuji gave him Brahma Sambandha, he felt something he had never felt before โ€” real love for Thakorji. All his learning had not given him this. Only grace could.

๐Ÿ’ก Being clever is good โ€” but Thakorji's love is a gift, not something you earn by studying.
๐Ÿ›•
Krishnadas Adhikari
No. 2 ยท The Temple Servant

Krishnadas took care of Lord Shreenathji's svarupa โ€” dressing Him, offering food, keeping everything perfect. One day while serving with complete love, the svarupa spoke to him! The Lord Himself guided His servant.

๐Ÿ’ก When you do seva with full love, Thakorji is truly there โ€” watching and loving you back.
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ
Surdas โญ
No. 3 ยท The Blind Poet

Surdas could not see with his eyes โ€” he was blind. But after Mahaprabhuji's blessing, he began to "see" Thakorji with his heart! He wrote thousands of beautiful poems describing exactly how Thakorji looks โ€” His peacock feather, His flute, His butter-stealing. How? Because love sees what eyes cannot.

๐Ÿ’ก You don't need your eyes to see Thakorji. You need your heart.
๐ŸŒพ
Kumbhandas โญ
No. 4 ยท The Simple Farmer

Kumbhandas had no money, no fancy clothes, no school education. But his love for Thakorji was so real that even Emperor Akbar โ€” the most powerful king of India โ€” asked him to sing! Kumbhandas went but his heart was heavy missing Thakorji. He sang only for the Lord.

๐Ÿ’ก Simple love for Thakorji is more valuable than all the gold in a king's palace.
๐ŸŽต
Paramananddas โญ
No. 5 ยท The Joyful Singer

Paramananddas was so full of love for Thakorji that sometimes when he sang, he would forget where he was! He would just sing and sing, completely lost in the joy of Thakorji's love. People said he looked like he was dancing inside.

๐Ÿ’ก It's okay to be JOYFUL about Thakorji! Singing and dancing with happiness is also beautiful seva.
๐Ÿ“
Nandadas โญ
No. 9 ยท The Scholar-Poet

Nandadas had studied a lot โ€” but instead of just studying, he turned all his learning into beautiful poetry! His famous Ras-Panchadhyayi describes the magical Rasa dance of Krishna. Both scholars and simple devotees love his poems equally.

๐Ÿ’ก Whatever talent you have โ€” writing, music, art โ€” you can offer it to Thakorji!
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ
Raidas
No. 13 ยท The Cobbler-Saint

Raidas made shoes for a living. In those times, people said his job was too "low" to be close to God. But Raidas loved Thakorji with all his heart. He sat making shoes and singing to God all day. He became one of the most famous devotees in all of India.

๐Ÿ’ก Thakorji doesn't look at your job or clothes. He only looks at your heart.
๐ŸŒŸ

The number 84 is special! In our tradition, it is said that a soul takes 84 lakh (8.4 million!) forms before becoming human. So the 84 Vaishnavas represent ALL kinds of souls that Thakorji can love and choose โ€” every type of person in the whole world! ๐Ÿ’š

These eight poet-saints' songs are sung in Shreenathji's Haveli at Nathdwara every single day โ€” 500 years later! When you hear kirtan at the Haveli, you are hearing their words. ๐ŸŽต

What the 84 Vaishnavas Teach Us Four big ideas to remember

๐Ÿ’š

Thakorji loves EVERYONE

A farmer, a blind poet, a cobbler, a scholar โ€” He chose all 84. He sees something beautiful in YOU too.

๐Ÿ’ช

Love is your superpower

Kumbhandas had a love so pure even an Emperor could not match it. Your love for Thakorji is your superpower!

๐ŸŒธ

Small daily seva counts

None of the 84 did one huge magical thing. They just loved Thakorji every single day. Thakorji keeps track!

๐ŸŽ

Grace is a free gift

Thakorji gives His love freely โ€” not because you are perfect, but because He WANTS to. You are always good enough!

Think About It! ๐Ÿค”
If YOU were one of the 84 Vaishnavas, which one would you be like? Curious Nandadas the scholar? Joyful Paramananddas the singer? Or loyal Krishnadas the temple servant? ๐Ÿ’š

You Can Be Like the 84 Vaishnavas! Five simple things to start today

1
Say "Jai Shri Krishna" every morning

Just like the 84 Vaishnavas started each day thinking of Thakorji. Even a whisper from your bed โ€” He hears it!

2
Offer something small every day

A flower, a leaf, a glass of water. Offer it at Thakorji's picture. Kumbhandas the farmer offered the simplest things with the greatest love.

3
Listen to one Vaarta or kirtan

Ask someone to tell you one story from the 84 Vaishnavas. Even one song heard with love is a blessing.

4
Be kind โ€” that is seva too!

When you are kind to a friend, help a parent, or smile at someone sad โ€” that is you being a Vaishnava! ๐Ÿ’š

5
Tell someone else a Vaarta story

When you hear a story, share it! Sharing Thakorji's stories is one of the most beautiful things a devotee can do.

๐ŸŒบ

There Were 84 Vaishnavas โ€” And There Is You

They lived 500 years ago. But their love for Thakorji is still alive in the kirtans sung every day, in the stories told in families โ€” and in your heart, every time you say "Jai Shri Krishna."

Thakorji chose all 84 of them. He has already chosen you. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ™ Jai Shri Shreenathji ยท Jai Shri Krishna ๐Ÿ™
