Part One — Maakhan Chori The Great Butter Heist of Vrindavan!
Every morning, the Gopi ladies of Vrindavan would wake up early and churn their milk — pull the rope, spin the stick, round and round — singing Krishna's name while they worked. From the milk they made the most delicious, fragrant, golden butter. They stored it carefully in clay pots hanging from the ceiling. Safe… or so they thought! 😄
Every day, young Krishna would arrive with his cowherd friends. They would sneak into houses through windows. They would climb on each other's shoulders to reach the hanging pots. They would break them open, eat the butter with great happiness, feed it to their friends and to the monkeys of Vrindavan — and smear the rest all over their faces and hands! 🐒
The Gopis would come home to find their pots broken and their butter gone. Then they would march straight to Yashoda Maiya and complain! "Your son broke into my house!" "Your Krishna ate all my butter!" "He fed it to the monkeys!" But even as they complained… they were smiling. Because being robbed by Krishna was the best thing that had ever happened to them. 💕
"Krishna did not steal the butter. He stole the heart that made it — and every Gopi was secretly overjoyed that He did."
What does the butter really mean? In Pushtimarg, the butter (maakhan) represents the most refined, most pure part of our heart — the love we have worked hard to develop through devotion. And Krishna doesn't wait to be given it formally. He comes and takes it directly — because He considers it already His! 🌿

One day, a friend came running to Yashoda: "Krishna is eating mud!" Yashoda hurried to Krishna and asked sternly, "Did you eat mud? Open your mouth!" Little Krishna, eyes wide with innocence, said "No Maiya, I didn't eat mud. They are all lying!" But Yashoda insisted — "Open. Your. Mouth." And Krishna opened His mouth. 😲
Inside Krishna's small mouth, Yashoda saw — everything. The entire universe. All the stars and planets. All the oceans and mountains. All of time, past and future. Vrindavan itself. And herself, standing right there, looking in. The infinite inside the finite. The whole cosmos inside her little child. She was completely overwhelmed. 💫
The tradition tells us that Yashoda then immediately forgot what she had seen. She blinked, and Krishna was just her little boy again, looking at her with those innocent eyes. Why did she forget? Because the Lord was merciful. If she had remembered what she saw every moment, she could not have been his mother — she would have been too overwhelmed with awe to feed him, hold him, scold him, love him as a child. He gave her the vision, then took it back — so her love could remain pure and warm. 💚
"He showed her the universe — then let her forget — so she could keep loving Him as a mother loves a child. That is His greatest mercy."
The deepest teaching: Why did the infinite Lord choose to be a small child who can be held, fed, and scolded? Because Vatsalya — the love of a parent for a child — is the most complete, selfless, unconditional love that exists. The Lord desired this specific love. He chose to become small so He could be loved in this way. 🌸
